Throwback to our fall event 2025

Another highlight came in the form of our two-day autumn event at the end of September, when employees from all three Scieneers locations gathered at our office in Karlsruhe.

Since our last event in spring, we have welcomed five new team members. This brings our total number of employees to 50 scieneers, and our team continues to grow! We look forward to continuing to develop both individually and as a team.

Day 1 – Arrival and exchange, followed by exciting sessions

On Thursday morning, our colleagues from Hamburg and Cologne travelled to Karlsruhe. By noon, everyone had arrived at the villa and we kicked off the two-day event that we had all been looking forward to for a long time. We enjoyed finger food, small hors d’oeuvres and many individual conversations.

Following a warm welcome, our Managing Director, Patrick, gave everyone an internal big-picture update.

To get the exchange off to a flying start, we played a short icebreaker game, which created a relaxed atmosphere and led to lots of new encounters.

This game was a special kind of bingo: each person received a bingo card with various statements about people, such as “someone who has a pet that is neither a cat nor a dog” or “someone who has been on a mountain over 3,000 meters high.” The task was to find colleagues who matched these descriptions in order to complete a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line. The first person to get bingo won. The game sparked exciting conversations, and we learned many interesting facts about each other.

The programme then began with a segment on the topic of ‘family growth‘, to which several team members contributed.

A particular highlight was the announcement of the new dedicated scienceers fan shop, which stocks merchandise such as hoodies, sweatshirts, backpacks and accessories!

After a short break, which gave us the opportunity to catch up with old acquaintances over coffee and meet new people, we moved on to an update on project satisfaction. Several colleagues provided insights into the status of ongoing projects, enabling us to gauge the general mood.

This was followed by parallel sessions on technical topics:

‘Logic Gate Neural Networks’: Deep Learning Meets Boolean Algebra

Unconventional Decision Trees Beyond Classification and Regression

Later in the afternoon, there were two more exciting sessions on technology-related topics. In one room, the focus was on AI coding assistants, while in the other, a review of the 2025 Fabric Conference in Vienna was presented.

After all that intellectual stimulation, we treated ourselves to a relaxed dinner at a tarte flambée buffet restaurant. We were treated to a wide variety of familiar and unusual variations with an assortment of toppings, ranging from creamy and salty to spicy and sweet. We rounded off the evening with a pub quiz featuring funny questions, interesting discussions and lots of laughter.

Day 2 – Team-building activities at the fun park, additional sessions and lightning talks

On Friday, we started the day with some sports. Early in the morning, we arrived at Funpark Karlsruhe together. There, we played laser tag in small groups and solved tricky escape room puzzles based on creative themes such as Atlantis, Jumanji and Sherlock Holmes. It was great fun and promoted critical thinking, exercise and teamwork. It was also a successful warm-up for the second day of the event.

Back at the Karlsruhe office, we enjoyed some fresh bowls before turning our attention to the topic of feedback in the early afternoon. Several speakers provided valuable insights that will be crucial for future collaboration.

During the break after the sessions, many colleagues, both new and old, took the opportunity to have professional portrait pictures taken.

As usual, the combination of technical input, personal topics and individual interests made this block particularly varied and inspiring.

At the end of the event, there was an open feedback session during which the results of the icebreaker game were revealed.

Afterwards, we made our way to the Aurum, where we rounded off the two intense days with a relaxed evening. We celebrated our successful autumn event with a barbecue buffet, drinks at the bar and lively conversation, and the great atmosphere continued late into the night.

Conclusion

We would like to thank all the participants for the exciting sessions, the new ideas, their active participation, the valuable exchange of ideas, the pleasant atmosphere and the fun we had together. These two intense days helped us to advance professionally and brought us closer together as a team.

We have taken away lots of ideas and inspiration to apply to our everyday lives, and we are already looking forward to our next company event in the spring, in Cologne, the cathedral city!
